What is Merciful AI?
Merciful AI is a distraction-free, privacy-first AI chat utility designed to serve as a scratchpad for your mind. It is built as a tool to help you organize complex thoughts, draft text, brainstorm, and problem-solve before you bring your ideas to real people.
Do I need an account to chat?
No account is required. You can open a browser tab and start chatting immediately as an anonymous user. However, verifying a free email address gives you an immediate upgrade: 50,000 daily tokens (up from 10,000), room history persistence across devices, and access to our Advanced model for starting new threads.
What models power Merciful?
Rather than locking everyone into a single compromise model, Merciful operates three purpose-built model tiers on dedicated cloud GPU clusters:
- Advanced: Our highest-capability reasoning model for complex logic, architecture, and nuanced writing.
- Standard: Fast, balanced, and responsive daily workhorse for back-and-forth dialogue and brainstorming.
- Economy: Lightweight, low-latency fallback model that is always available.
How do daily tokens and limits work?
We use a daily token allowance to ensure sustainable access to dedicated GPU compute:
- Anonymous: 10,000 daily tokens (Standard & Economy models).
- Verified Free: 50,000 daily tokens with up to 150,000 rollover (Advanced thread starters, Standard & Economy).
- Pro ($5/mo): 500,000 daily tokens with up to 1,500,000 rollover (unlimited Advanced model).
The Safety Net: If your daily tokens run out, your session transitions smoothly to our Economy model. You are never cut off mid-thought or locked out of your conversation.
What do I get with a Pro subscription?
For $5/month, Pro members receive 500,000 daily tokens, unlimited use of our Advanced reasoning model, priority queue routing during peak times, and early access to upcoming features. Pro subscriptions directly fund our GPU hosting bills, keeping the free tier online for everyone.
Is my data private?
Yes. Chat rooms are private by default, and your conversations are encrypted in transit. We do not sell your personal data or conversation history to data brokers or advertisers, and our chat interface is completely ad-free.
Do you train AI models on my conversations?
We never sell or license your conversations to third-party AI companies or data brokers. To improve our service, we may evaluate de-identified, anonymized conversations strictly in-house on our own infrastructure. Conversations from paid Pro accounts are excluded from training datasets by default, and registered free users can opt out at any time in their account settings.
Can I collaborate or share a conversation?
Yes. Rooms are private to your session by default. If you wish to collaborate, toggle your room setting to "Shareable" to generate a share link for colleagues or friends. Everyone with the link can participate in the same conversation thread.
What is Merciful NOT designed for?
Merciful AI is a tool, not a human replacement, therapist, or synthetic companion. It should not be used as a substitute for professional legal, medical, or mental health advice. Use it to clarify your thinking, then bring those thoughts into the real world.
